About Lesley

Lesley was born in London, but has lived in most of England, some of Ireland and a bit of Europe too. After a career in Information Management and Education, she changed course to begin writing.

Her short stories such as 'Corner Shop Wars' or 'The Jelly Babies' have been published in women's magazines. 

'Date with Danger', a novella, was published in 2018 by D.C.Thomson Media. 

'Shopping for Annie' (shortlisted for the 2021 Fresher Publishing prize) appears in both the Waves of Change and the Eye Spy anthologies.

She is a founding member of the Gillingham (Dorset) Writing Group. This varied group of writers meet regularly to share their writing.

When did you begin writing?

     I feel like I've always been a writer, but life made sure I had things to write about.

What can readers expect from your writing?

     Dark tales which are shot through, like a stick of rock, with humanity.

What advice would you give to new writers?

     Sign up! To Writing Groups; to Reading Groups; to Writing Courses such as the

     Bournemouth University Masters in Creative Writing and Publishing.

   Write, Write, Write - read and listen.

What is the Editing process like?

     Your Editor is your Best Friend.
